Navy or Family

I was once told by an old chief of mine that one day in your navy career you will come to a point where you have to choose between your family and your career. I told him that I am going to choose both, and dominate at both. Well I still do great at both, but lately I've felt like I have to choose. It has really been stressing me out because I'm a very competitive person and I love to be the best and succeed at everything. The thing about the navy though is you really have to put in a lot of extra hours and effort to be the best which results in time away from your family. The problem with that is I hate being away from my family and I really want to be there for them. So basically I feel like a rope being tugged in two different directions between my family and my career. I got to thinking about it the other night and went ahead and decided what I need to do... I need to try my very best to dominate during regular working hours that way I can hurry home and dominate at home. I love my job and I love my family, so why not have both right now. Who knows what the future will bring me career wise but I know for a fact that I will always have my family, and they will be my number one no matter what.
